Bud Martin joined the Roswell office of Hinkle, Hensley, Shanor & Martin, L.L.P. in 1967, and moved to the Midland office in 1971. He serves as the managing partner for the entire Firm. He graduated in 1964 with a B.S. from the University of North Texas and received an L.L.B. in 1967 from The University of Texas School of Law. Mr. Martin practices in various areas of oil and gas law both in Texas and New Mexico, including fee, state and federal areas of New Mexico, and is Board Certified in Natural Resources Law, Oil and Gas, by the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization (has previously served as a member of the Natural Resources Committee). He spends considerable time practicing in the energy lending area for financial institutions. In addition, he also has experience in acquisitions, business entities, banking and financial institutions (including regulatory), real property and workout matters. He is licensed in both Texas and New Mexico.
Mr. Martin is past president of the Midland County Bar Association, former Chairman of the Midland City Planning and Zoning Commission and has served as Director of the University of Texas Law School Association. He has served as a Trustee of the Petroleum Museum, is a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Texas Permian Basin College of Arts & Sciences, as well as serving on the Community Board of Directors of Wells Fargo Bank Texas, Midland, N.A. He has also served as general counsel to the Permian Basin Petroleum Association. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the New Mexico Bar Foundation.
