Julia Joplin Swallow is a partner in the Midland, Texas office.  She was licensed to practice law in Texas in 1993 and in New Mexico in 1997. She graduated with honors from Texas Tech University in 1989, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish.  Ms. Swallow earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1993. She served as a law clerk in the legal department of PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos) in Mexico City, where she further developed her fluency in Spanish.  While her practice has typically centered around oil and gas issues, Ms. Swallow has represented banks, oil companies and other businesses in a wide range of litigated disputes.  She represents creditors in bankruptcy court and has successfully argued bankruptcy matters before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is fully certified as a mediator including mediation of family law cases.  Ms. Swallow is also available to examine title and assist with other oil and gas transactional matters.


Ms. Swallow is admitted to practice before all Federal District Courts in Texas and New Mexico as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  She is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation,  Texas Association of Defense Counsel,  Permian Basin Landmen's Association, the Texas and New Mexico State Bar Associations, and the Midland County Bar Association.  She currently serves as President of the Midland County Women's Bar Association.

Ms. Swallow is a member of the Board of Directors of the Midland Montessori School, and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Midland.  She is a former Trustee of the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum, Library and Hall of Fame, and serves in many varied capacities at the First Presbyterian Church of Midland.
