Andrew J. (Drew) Cloutier is a partner in the Roswell, New Mexico, office of Hinkle, Hensley, Shanor & Martin, L.L.P. He is a 1987 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and is licensed to practice law in New Mexico and numerous federal courts. Drew practices primarily in the areas of natural resources litigation, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy. His natural resources practice emphasizes representation of oil and gas clients including industry associations, major companies, independents and operators and in a broad range of litigation matters.
Drew has actively advised and represented oil and gas producers in post-production cost and royalty valuation litigation and administrative proceedings since 1990. Drew argued and wrote the brief for industry in the case of
Harvey E. Yates Co. v. Powell, 98 F.3d 1222
(10th Cir. 1996).
Drew's bankruptcy practice principally is limited to representation of commercial creditors and trustees of large estates. Drew also has represented reorganizing businesses in successful Chapter 11 cases. He has broad experience in the full gamut of bankruptcy issues, including lift stay proceedings, executory contract issues, avoidance actions, plan confirmation matters, claims litigation, lien priority and validity questions, and appeals.
Drew represents clients in both federal and state court at both the trial and appellate level. He received the New Mexico Bar Foundation's Outstanding Young Lawyer Award in 1992.
