     The Hinkle law firm has a summer clerk program for law students who have an interest in joining the Firm upon graduation and admission to the bar. Due to our diverse office locations and practice areas each office conducts its own recruiting and summer clerk program.

     We conduct interviews on campuses of several law schools each fall and are interested in top students academically who are interested in working in a diverse and challenging practice. The firm generally hires between 2 and 6 summer clerks each year. Most of the clerks have been in our Roswell office, but we also have needs in one of our other 5 offices in NM and Texas. We accept either full or partial summer positions depending upon our needs and the desire of the law students. Additionally, we will hire summer clerks who have an interest in judicial clerkships who wish to join the firm after completion.

We seek the following attributes in each of our summer clerks:

  • Hard working candidates that have shown the ability to excel in their academic background, both in the classroom and other activities such as law review or moot court.

  • Students who are interested in a long term relationship with a law firm and rapid advancement toward partnership.

  • Students who want the lifestyle of a small to medium law firm and the benefits available of living in the Southwest.

     We strive to have our law clerks do the work normally done by our young associates so that the law clerks develop a good sense of what it would be like to work for us. The Firm is dedicated to providing an educational and interesting summer to each clerk. Our law clerks typically do some work for every lawyer in the office so that they can experience the diversity of our practice and get to know each lawyer. We also schedule social events outside of the office so that attorneys and law clerks can interact on a more informal basis.

     We compensate our summer clerks at local market rates commensurate with other prominent law firms in the area. If requested, we assist our clerks in finding suitable housing arrangements.

     The Hinkle Law Firm provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to practice law in a prominent Southwest based law firm with a wide variety of practice areas. We have the advantage of being a medium sized law firm with the lifestyle of a smaller firm due to our multiple locations and smaller office size.
