Derek VerHagen is an associate in the Santa Fe office of Hinkle Shanor LLP. His primary practice areas are employment/civil rights litigation, administrative law and personal injury.

Mr. VerHagen received his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 2013, where he served as Notes Editor for the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights and was awarded the Roberts Endowed Presidential Scholarship.  Mr. VerHagen also earned the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Human Rights and Justice Fellowship, which funded his clerkship with the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.  He graduated with honors from Texas Christian University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and was a member of the varsity baseball team.  Prior to joining Hinkle Shanor, Mr. VerHagen practiced criminal defense and civil rights litigation in Austin, Texas.
